How does BLE work

Bluetooth Low Energy, or BLE, is a wireless technology used primarily for detecting and tracking people, assets, and devices for indoor positioning applications, such as asset tracking, indoor navigation, and proximity services.

The BLE beacons are small, flexible, and low-power Bluetooth transmitters, such as tag-based asset tracking devices, beacons, personnel badges, and wearables. 

Devices like BLE-capable smartphones and BLEateways, also called BLE gateways, can detect the signals. A beacon can be placed in fixed locations to collect location data, which is then sent to a central indoor positioning system (IPS) or real-time location system (RTLS).
